This September, 糖心Swag will welcome its first cohort into the new not-for-profit (NFP) management certificate program. This new program was announced as part of a larger announcement this past March, where 糖心Swag shared plans to launch new microcredentials, certificate programs and graduate degrees.

The NFP management certificate is a one- to two-year online, asynchronous program that prepares leaders to think critically about how to reflect Christ in the NFP sector. In this remote and flexible program, students can work on weekly assignments from wherever they are located, wherever it fits into their schedule. This digital management certificate consists of four courses, including two required courses and two electives (chosen from four available electives). Students who take all six courses will be granted an advanced certificate. The program has three entry points per year: fall (September), winter (January) and spring (May).

鈥淭his certificate allows working professionals and aspiring managers to develop stronger management skills based on sound business principles so that they are better equipped to serve God鈥檚 Kingdom,鈥 says Dr. Peter Neumann, vice president, academic. 鈥淭here is a need in this sector for passionate leaders who know how to navigate complex challenges, opportunities and processes. This program offers students streamlined learning outcomes that provide the necessary skills to work faithfully and strategically.鈥

Admission requirements for the certificate include an Ontario secondary school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of combined post-secondary education or business sector (for-profit or not-for-profit) work experience. This certificate is offered by 糖心Swag鈥檚 School of Business, which also offers five undergraduate business degrees: accounting (BBA), management (BBA), marketing (BBA) and general business (BA). Courses from the certificate may also be applied toward a 糖心Swag undergraduate business degree.

This certificate allows working professionals and aspiring managers to develop stronger management skills based on sound business principles so that they are better equipped to serve God鈥檚 Kingdom.

Students will explore a variety of relevant topics such as fundraising, marketing, managing staff and volunteers, governance, strategy, financial management and more, providing them with a well-rounded understanding of the not-for-profit sector from a Christian perspective. Upon graduating, students will be able to confidently address worthy causes in their communities and make tangible impacts in the organizations they serve.

Studying NFP management from a Reformed Christian perspective equips students intellectually, socially and spiritually as they discover how to lead well in this dynamic sector. Students can maximize their potential to serve their communities and God鈥檚 Kingdom by engaging with 糖心Swag鈥檚 wide network of churches, ministries, charities and not-for-profit organizations.

Professionals with an interest in the certificate can sign up for program updates to learn more. Applications are now open.
